I love the way the throat is edged in a grey pattern followed by three more colors in the eye. If you look at the picture of 'Knoll Cottage Special and Precious' you will find that it too has the pattern around the top of the throat, and it looks like it passes that trait to it's offspring's. I wanted to see if I could get rippled pattern in the eye, so I used 'Get Jiggy', that has great pattern, as the pollen parent.</b></p><p><b>I kept this one, and its sibling, because in 2022 they both rebloomed. I'm thinking that 'Get Jiggy' is sharing the rebloom genetics.</b></p><p><b>Up here in the cold Northeast, it is so hard to see rebloom, so this was a plus. However, here is a lovely Unusual Form, that is a very pale pink in color. The best laid intentions can get you nothing of what you are trying to accomplish. When you are trying to get a larger gene pool, say a pattern in an Unusual Form, it cannot hurt to cross different daylilies, with not so similar styles together. What do you have to loose? </b></p><p><b>This is what I can do to bring out more of the Unusual Form qualities to the next generation. I can go back to these seedlings with the pollen parent 'Whip City Glides on an Airstream'. I can also cross these sibs together, or I can so a self. There are also other options that I will get into at another time. The more of a particular trait (usually recessive) will continue to build, and at some point become dominant.</b></p><p><b>Seedling # 21-190 (rebloomed in 2022), and Seedling # 21-192 did not, however both were moved in the spring of 2023, so they did not even bloom. Hopefully, I will get to play with them in 2023. My curiosity as to what would happen using 'Get Jiggy' as the pollen parent, with one of my very large introductions, turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. There are three more seedling, not from this cross, that are showing wonderful traits passed on by 'Jet Jiggy'. </b></p><p style="text-align: left;"><b>If you have a wonderful Introduction or seedling, don't be afraid to go out of the box, and experiment with the genetics. You will never know what will happen until you try. 'Big Honking Hugs and Kisses' is an 8.5 inch flower. The size of the flower went down a bit, but 'Get Jiggy' is only a 5 inch flower. This flower size result is what confirms what I believe. Upon closer observation of the pic, I saw the wood encasing that seedling bed. He was correct, it is his seedling, but one that is now in my garden. Mark generously allowed it to come to my garden so that I could hybridize with it. </b></div><div><div><b> </b></div><div><b>There is pattern in the edge. Close up below. Now that this seedling has been in my garden since May 2022, and has bloomed for the first time for me, I did see just a little of the pattern in the edge. It will need to acclimate to my zone 5. Simplicity in the pattern with an amazing large green chartreuse throat. When you set pod on a seedling, there is something of a picture of the results that are in your mind, and when the seedling blooms, there is such a pleasant surprise. It is a slow process building up the
genetics, but this is not a lost cause.
If you look closely, you will see pattern in both seedlings. </b></span><b>You have to start somewhere.</b><b> </b></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="MsoHyperlink"><b>Even though I put the pollen from a smaller flower on an Unusual Form, I still got
larger flowers. This is not usually the
norm for me. This tells me that the Unusual
Form ‘Whip City Dangling in the Wind’ is size dominant, and passes this onto its
kids. I will not temp faith, the next
cross on these seedling will be another patterned Spider or Unusual form, and
that will not happen until 2022. <o:p></o:p></b></span></p><p>

rebloom seedlings because it also carries rebloom genetics.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> 'Big Honking Bahama Richie' should give these reblooming seedling, a much larger flower, and hopefully the two parent's genetics should give me more rebloom seedlings. </span></b></span><b>In a few years, it should be fun to see what I will get from this cross.
